Frequently asked questions

Companies use American IPs to see websites, search results, ads and prices the way people in the United States see them. Prices show in US Dollar (USD). Some of the most popular online stores in the United States are amazon.com, walmart.com and ebay.com. Companies use American IPs to check how their own listings, ads and prices appear to local shoppers there. Common uses for American IPs include SEO monitoring, price monitoring and ad verification.

Chicago, Houston and Dallas hold 38% of our American IPs together. We also have IPs in Philadelphia and Atlanta. You can target a specific city.

Comcast Cable, Spectrum and T-Mobile USA carry 60% of our American IPs together. Comcast Cable and Spectrum each run both a mobile network and fixed broadband, and T-Mobile USA is a mobile carrier.

There is no single federal data protection law in the United States. Federal law is sector-specific, with HIPAA, GLBA and COPPA. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is the main federal enforcer. States have their own privacy laws, for example the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA) in California, which the California Privacy Protection Agency (CalPrivacy) enforces. See DLA Piper's data protection overview for the United States and the California law. This is general information, not legal advice. Check with a lawyer for your use case.

Without a session, every request to an American IP gets a new IP. When you add a session ID, your requests reuse the same node and IP while the session is active, and the session ends after 60 seconds without requests. The IP can still change if its node becomes unavailable.

In the United States you can target by country, region, city, ISP or mobile carrier, and ASN. Zip or postal code targeting is available on the Scale and Enterprise plans. Chicago is one city you can target. The more specific the targeting, the fewer IPs match it, and location and ASN are classified signals, not guarantees.

People whose devices carry traffic take part voluntarily and with informed consent, and they can stop at any time. This covers our American IPs.

We don't give away free American proxies. Public free proxy lists are run by unknown operators, and you cannot see who handles your traffic or how the IPs were sourced. You can create an account for free. Sandbox has no subscription fee and includes no credits, so it only sends traffic after you buy top-up credits. Plans are on our pricing page.
