Research highlights: When looking at Instagram users by country, Instagram users in India dominate the platform with 413.85 million—more than double the 171.7 million users in the US, the second-largest market. Brazil ranks third with 140.7 million users. Together, these three countries account for over 36% of Instagram’s global user base. Instagram users are heavily concentrated in Southern Asia (25.7%), Southern America (13.6%), and Northern America (11%), and these three regions account for over 50% of the platform’s global active users. Kazakhstan stands out with the highest adult reach rate, with nearly 9 out of 10 adults active on Instagram (86.2%).

Countries with the highest Instagram adult reach rate
Despite having smaller populations, countries like Kazakhstan and Turkey boast Instagram reach rates of 86.2% and 85.5%, respectively, among adults aged 18+. This means nearly 9 out of 10 adults in these countries are active on the platform
Small nations like Brunei (81.3%), Bahrain (81.3%), and Montenegro (80.6%) show that Instagram is a dominant platform even in smaller markets and that the platform is widely used in the country’s adult population

Instagram’s user base is heavily concentrated in Southern Asia (25.7%), Southern America (13.6%), and Northern America (11%). Together, these three regions account for over 50% of the platform’s global active users
Southern Asia takes the lead in Instagram usage, accounting for 25.7% of the global total with 448 million active users, more than double the 192 million users in Northern America (11%). This is accounted for by the fact that India dominates the platform
Europe’s Instagram usage varies significantly by subregion. Southern Europe leads with 72.6 million users (4.2%), followed by Western Europe (78M, 4.5%) and Northern Europe (51.3M, 2.9%). Eastern Europe has the lowest user base at 43.1 million (2.5%)
Southern America (13.6%) and Southeastern Asia (10.2%) surpass Western Europe (4.5%) and Northern Europe (2.9%), showing the platform’s strength in emerging markets
However, Africa's Instagram presence is comparatively lower than other regions. Northern Africa (2.9%) has the highest user base at 50.9 million, while Middle Africa accounts for just 0.2% of global users (2.77 million)
Western Asia (7.6%) and Central Asia (1.7%) have a combined 162.3 million users, which indicates Instagram's growing influence in these regions
Oceania has 17.5 million Instagram users, accounting for just 1% of the global total
