Accelerate your workflow with upgraded ultra-low latency proxies

Last updated: 2 April 2025

We’re excited to announce a breakthrough upgrade to the SOAX proxy infrastructure that has significantly reduced latency for our customers – by up to 64% – making SOAX the fastest proxy provider for North American traffic.

This latest release is one of the most substantial improvements to the SOAX infrastructure in the past year, and it’s already showing impressive results for companies running data-intensive AI and ML workflows, where high-quality, real-time data is non-negotiable.

What's changed

At the heart of this new release is the strategic expansion of our infrastructure, bringing proxy servers closer to users and target websites in North America. This dramatically reduces the distance that your data needs to travel.

The most significant impact of this upgrade is the reduction in latency, measured by Time to First Byte (TTFB). Lower TTFB means data is delivered more quickly and reliably from the source. When your requests get faster responses, there’s a lower chance of interruptions or timeouts during data retrieval.

Latency improvements (1)

By slashing latency, our upgraded infrastructure minimizes the delays and partial responses that can lead to incomplete or fragmented datasets. This allows your AI models to learn from high-quality, real-time data, while reducing the time your developers spend on extensive data cleaning and restructuring.

Enhanced routing efficiency

By reducing networking hops and streamlining our routing, we’ve significantly cut TTFB. This means your data ingestion pipelines receive complete, fresh data faster – reducing the risk of API timeouts and the disruption of scheduled scrapers.

Reliable and consistent connections

With lower latency, there’s lower chances of encountering partial responses or timeouts, which translates directly into cleaner, more structured data. This not only supports high-performing AI model training, but also benefits a wide range of web scraping applications by ensuring the data you collect is accurate, reliable, and immediately actionable.

Scalable infrastructure

Whether you’re processing millions of data points or managing real-time ML workflows, our upgraded system can grow with you. Fewer network delays mean reduced compute costs and less time spent on scraper maintenance.

Real-world performance: Benchmark tests

Early performance metrics show substantial improvements in response times:

  • For users in North America targeting websites in the US or Canada, we’ve reduced TTFB by 44%, dropping from 1,370ms to just 760ms. This means significantly faster access to North American content.

  • For people in the US using SOAX datacenter proxies, the improvements are even more dramatic, with a 64% decrease in TTFB, from 964ms down to 345ms.

  • You can benefit from these improvements even if you’re geographically distant from the new infrastructure expansions. For example, those in Europe accessing North American residential nodes will see a 16% improvement in TTFB, decreasing from 1035ms to 868ms.

Rigorous testing has shown that SOAX now outperforms every established player in the industry for connections in North America. To substantiate our claims, we ran comprehensive tests comparing four self-serve packages using default settings from four leading proxy providers. The test parameters were:

  • Client machines: Digital Ocean droplets located in the US and Spain (completely independent from SOAX infrastructure)
  • Target website: Amazon US
  • Number of requests: 3,000

We found that SOAX delivered a notably lower average TTFB compared to all competitors when targeting Amazon US from North America and Europe.

How these improvements affect different proxy types

Our internal tests confirm that SOAX now outperforms all proxy providers on the market for US-to-US traffic. These results are part of our ongoing focus on delivering high-speed, low-latency proxy connections for our customers.

The latency improvements benefit anyone who uses SOAX residential, mobile, or datacenter proxies, but the impact you’ll experience varies slightly depending on your proxy type and use case.

Residential and mobile proxies:

  • Faster connection speeds for those connecting to North American residential IPs from the US
  • Reduced lag when scraping US-based websites or interacting with geo-restricted content
  • Improved performance for use cases like price monitoring, ad verification, and data collection in the US

Datacenter proxies:

  • A dramatic 64% latency reduction for near-instant connections for North American traffic
  • Improved performance for high-volume data collection and automated tasks that demand rapid response times

Benefits for engineers and data-driven teams

Faster time-to-model

Lower latency means your data pipelines feed high-quality information into your AI models faster. This reduces the time between data collection and actionable insights, accelerating your model training cycles.

Reduced infrastructure friction

For teams managing complex data ingestion tasks and real-time API integrations, our ~40% TTFB reduction means fewer API timeouts and costly request retries. This improved reliability ensures that your scheduled scrapers and automated data collection processes run smoothly, freeing up resources to focus on insights rather than troubleshooting.

Cost efficiency and ROI

Fewer timeouts and lower latency translate into reduced server load and compute costs. With a more stable data pipeline, your team spends less time on maintenance and more on innovating your core AI products.

How to make the most of these improvements

Our intelligent routing system will automatically direct your traffic through the best-performing servers based on the geographical location of your IP address. To get the maximum benefit from this update, execute your requests from North or South America. This proximity to our new infrastructure is where you’ll see the most dramatic reductions in latency.

Residential - US - EU

There’s no need for you to make any manual changes, you’ll always get the fastest possible connection based on your location.

If your workflows demand the absolute lowest latency (think real-time automation, high-frequency simulations, or any application where milliseconds matter) you can put our US-based datacenter proxies to work. These proxies have seen the most significant improvements and offer incredibly fast connection times within North America.

We encourage you to actively monitor your connection speeds and TTFB. You’ll notice a considerable improvement, particularly when targeting US-based resources.

Looking ahead

While these groundbreaking improvements have solidified our position as the fastest proxy provider for North American traffic, this upgrade is just the first step. It’s part of a broader global initiative designed to deliver consistent, ultra-low latency performance, wherever you are in the world.

We’re constantly improving our infrastructure and refining our services to deliver the best data collection experience possible. This latest upgrade follows a major revamp of our plans and pricing, ensuring even greater value for our customers.
